Belem Lett graduated from the College of Fine Arts in Sydney in 2008 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Honours Class 1) and a Master of Fine Art in 2012. In 2010 he was the recipient of the prestigious Brett Whiteley Travelling Art Scholarship, the highest award for an Australian artist under the age of 30, administered by the Art Gallery of New South Wales. In 2011, he participated in a residency at the Cité Internationale des Arts in Paris.
He has exhibited locally and internationally and participated in art fairs including Melbourne's Spring 1883, Den Fair (Melbourne) and a solo presentation at Sydney Contemporary art fair with Edwina Corlette Gallery in 2017.
Lett has been awarded several prizes, including the Early Career Prize in Hazelhurst Works on Paper Award (2019), Elaine Bermingham National Watercolour Prize (2017- Highly Commended), and Paddington Art Prize (2016, 2018 - Highly Commended). He has also been a finalist in several prizes including the Calleen Art Award (2025), Gosford Art Prize (2024, 2025), Sir John Sulman Prize (2022, 2025), Mosman Art Prize (2023, 2024, 2025), Muswellbrook Art Prize (2024), Waverley Art Prize (2021, 2023, 2024), Fishers Ghost Award (2013, 2015, 2018) NAB Emerging Artist Award (2014), Sunshine Coast Art Prize (2016, 2018, 2024), and more. Belem Lett’s work is held in public and private collections including Mirvac, Artbank, Crown Group, 10 Group and the Australian Catholic University.
